2023-09-07: the gates open

discussed yesterday's sadness with a friend. oh, she said, here, use my login. full access. i logged in and downloaded the netbook and logged out; have skimmed it and saved it to my cloud storage.

i'll read through it sometime soon, but not now, things still a little bit raw. i skimmed and read the epilogue; dated late 1998; at the end of high school, in that weird transition period where you're expected to know what you want to do with the rest of your life. our d&d group still playing in the little dining room table off j's family's kitchen, our teenage years ending; preparing for university; and none of us thinking about what comes after, though all of us claimed to have a vague idea of what we wanted to do, to be, knowing, in the way that the young do, that we would, necessarily live forever.
