2025-08-03: still full (heart, stomach)

our friends brought their propane-powered pizza oven last night and we made pizzas on the back deck. probably 8-10 between the four of us. our vegetarian friend had roasted tomatoes, and peach; my partner, fig spread with prosciutto and brie, whereas my other friend and i were very traditionally male and had salami, prosciutto, ham (in varying combinations), both with tomato sauce and bbq sauce (the latter was the best).

the three of them made the pizzas and cooked them while i minded all our dogs in the back yard.

by the time the pizza was ready i'd had a couple beers and an hour in the sun. the pizza was basically the best i'd ever had, crispy and bubbly and thin and wonderful, up there with the pizza that i had with a colleague at a conference in new york in 2018 after we'd spent a couple hours walking around manhattan and chatting. that pizza (wish i'd thought to write down the name of the restaurant) was thin and covered in pepperoni and almost too salty to eat (but, obviously, not). this was less salty but no less good. i'm in love. we've already talked about when we'll do this again.
