2025-10-03: trips

have a couple of trips coming up: to see my in-laws in the next few days, and then to visit my family at the end of the month. more than i've done in a while, it feels like. visiting my family means west. flying. my airsickness meds expiring years ago, so last weekend when one of my friends was in the states to watch a football game, he picked me up a couple of boxes of my usual. a different ingredient than gravol, which is the go-to anti-emetic here in canada. i find it works much better.

i'm dealing with a lot of aches and pains right now. injured myself twice, somehow, once each leg. i'm limping & i'm slow. it's getting better, but, oof.

made an appt to get my winter tires put on. feels early, but need to take care of it before the trip. don't want to potentially come back to snowy roads and all-seasons.

(this feels like i'm going away for months. realistically it's only a handful of days. but, october in canada, the weather can change quickly. especially now. given, you know,)

taking a day off work next week to handle the car stuff. i like to sit at the dealership and drink dangerous amounts of free nespresso while they work on the car. i usually finish whatever i've been reading, and often another book as well. i like this dealership because they don't have a tv going. there's a radio, and it's usually tuned to an awful country music station, but i can deal with that. i'm reading a new collection of short stories by joyce carol oates. i've got a couple books of poetry i need to get to as well.

looking forward to sitting in the hard dealership chairs.
